Our New Flight - Expats in Japan for 672 days, expats in China since ... today!

A small nod to the first post of "Our Korea ( www.notrecoree.blogspot.com

) for this last post "Our Japan" here I am again in an airport lounge, that of Narita this time to take another flight to Shanghai. Ruelle de Jingumae I just go with a little twinge in my heart an alien registration card ", the key which made us residents in Japan (even with a special queue so convenient arrival at Narita when we returned from the trip). I spent a delightful last day yesterday in Tokyo. Good weather when the rain was announced, and far from the usual sweltering heat of summer in Tokyo. Jingumae ride classic and around Omotesando to show Stephanie, an American friend living in Seoul, the beauties and delights of the district: the restaurant "Kurkku Kitchen", his crisp vegetables and meat grilled to the point; Design Festa and its young designers re-imagining the place to suit their desires, a badge of Pierre Hermé to die (blackcurrant and violet this time of incredible lightness and finesse), the prints of Hokusai and Hiroshige time of the second floor of the Oriental Bazaar.
The evening is no exception when we joined Gregory: in Ebisu, we come across one good child in each Matsuri Tokyo neighborhood has the secret and we look at three generations sketch dance steps all in rhythm around the central platform on which stand the taiko, a great izakaya fish "Yekku Taiya" with, among others, Saint-Jacques nut butter sauce unforgettable; and while the workers dismantled the stage of the already matsuri, a final champagne cocktail under the heads of deer in the "Piano" Shibuya, already described a few posts.

short, a compendium of Tokyo life, without effort, without losing momentum. Just one of the liveliest cities and most diverse in the world. Just very, very fond memories when the plane takes off earlier and that I will be able to fly the new "Our
China."

Japan, I love you a little, a lot, passionately ... Watch - Expats in Japan since 670 days

Japan, I love you a little, a lot, passionately ... Watch "Sooo, na, na, na, na" often said one of my Japanese colleagues when included Finally, where my devious mind (read "non-Japanese") was driving.
In addition to a wonderful souvenir of work, many times imitated but never equaled, this phrase sums up the wonder that we have read in some of our readers from both earlier articles "Oh good! So like that, you leave Japan. Already! .

Oh, yes! To our dismay, it's already time to complete the suitcases. Technically, it's already done: farewell party, called here "sayonara party" or simply "sayo" and repainted in "yellow evening" by us two months ago, some old furniture, appliances, mobile and transformers broken through the French community; movers packing the rest with all the care which expect from the Japanese (and the box Sandra!) a month ago ; Holidays a little rough in Paris to sell the apartment, among others; weekend of wakeboarding in Singapore with Denis and Jerome after a week of intense training ... and here I am alone in a hotel in Tokyo, as I began in September 2007 when I loudly proclaimed that I "knew nothing" of Japan (
cf. the first post of this blog
). This has not changed anything! These almost two years have passed too quickly, a kaleidoscope of images and sensations in our heads shaking, but still no exegesis of the Japanese psyche, still no control of mysterious rules of Go, sumo or ikebana. However, as fun, meetings, flavors, delightful walks! Hold: a range for men, delicately ornamented, deftly opened and closed during a summit meeting, that's a gesture that marked me a lot, this mixture of distinction, light distance and refinement.
Or the pure blue sky and the winter of Tokyo, when you walk along the old moat of the Imperial Palace (Sotobori-dori) to the station in Iidabashi watching cherry knobs days longer than early spring.

A red torii Shimoda planted on a rock overlooking the sea, announcing a sanctuary in the area, or great big brother Miyajima bathing her black pillars at high tide, or the forest of orange torii lined up on the extraordinary " fox hill "of Kyoto.

The brilliance of The Ballad of Narayama or Zatoishi (that of Kitano), the lyricism of Yoshikawa recounting the life of Musashi and melancholy Murakami, could continue to beading of the Japanese universe. A final

manga, offered by Vincent and Sylvie, to remember all the fun taste of Tokyo and Japan " The gourmet solitaire "in Jiro Taniguchi, the Summit of the Gods (translated and published in France by Casterman). The hero wanders quietly through the neighborhoods of Tokyo, Osaka or elsewhere and enjoyed his udon, tonkatsu or its katsukare as much cake. An important detail opens the last chapter, a new angle that I did not know Japanese sociology: "The food in Japan fits into two categories: that which we take to eat, and that which we take to support alcohol. Specifically, without rice dishes revolve around alcohol you drink while nibbling. A gourmet who does not drink Alcohol is not a lone wolf. "It will

return to Japan, read the Japan board in the same places as the hero to see if Chez Tomo", the Korean barbecue or Gompachi Jyu-Bei Gotanda still exist, re-learn the Japanese (and Japanese), in short, he will feel Japan.

again and again.
follow, so ...

Fountains and bamboo parasols red that I never get tired of photographing.

The bentos, sushi, onigiri and other take-away, so easy to find and so convenient for an impromptu picnic.

The streets of the "Kagu" (Kagurazaka district), dotted with traditional shops, lined with potted plants that no one would steal. Bike lanes running down in the quiet morning, or wander through the crowd of the afternoon to its market for small traders.

Highways ("Chuto) raised in the city, signs of Akihabara, the line Yurikamone to go to Odaiba. Futuristic and fascinating.

Japan, I t love a little, a lot, passionately ... first draft - Expats in Japan since 631 days

Japan, I love you a little, a lot, passionately ... first draft alleys near pedestrian Jingumae, its trendy hairdressers, its contemporary art galleries, shops of sharp clothes (for men, women's or dog), two steps from the bustling commercial Omotesando.
The "perfect evening" in Shibuya, beginning with " Izakaya-ism ", also called the restaurant is small (1 meter 20 under lintel) with its grilled mackerel with a blowtorch, and continuing with a cocktail in the Piano," the most kitsch bar tiny pocket of the "Golden Gay" Shibuya, with red hangings, lamps and ceiling deer heads all over two floors of six to eight meters square each maximum. Some

Path of Flowers - Expats in Japan since 615 days

The way of flowers
(Note Delph)
Ikebana is also called "Kado", the way of flowers. In Tokyo you can see right now a beautiful exhibition organized by the school * Sogetsu. This school was founded in 1930, advocates greater freedom and use of innovative materials compared to other schools. And indeed, with this exhibition, it is much closer to contemporary art than the bouquet of flowers!

strange silence, that of the post, that of boredom.
finish the tumult of white water, dry the torrent of emotions. Empty
infinite dark abyss where icy plunge chills, whispers and murmurs, which drown cyclones, with flowing Unreason.
Desert conditioned, decorated cardboard, out of the reach of curious who linger.
signs piling up, the remnants of a past time telling his story, fragments of humanity. A hand-sewn patchwork
dreams and pain, laid on the cold bed of a love killer.
A foreign presence, two familiar ghosts haunting the places of their complaints haunting, traveling this closed loop delusional.
The source has dried up, the rock dried up, exposing the harshness of land threatened by the advancing hours by flight seasons.

Place the head - Expats in Japan since 612 days

's Place chief (Note Delph)

Here is a very informative article recently found in Metropolis magazine. I can not fit more lift without thinking!
I summarize for non-English speakers: In Japan, it is important to use instead of the head ("kamiza") or instead of the messenger boy ("shimoza") depending on your rank in the company and the colleagues with whom you are.
In an elevator: the messenger boy next buttons (logic) and head to the opposite corner. The messenger boy to let the leader, to greet and stand beside the door.

In a meeting: the messenger boy at the door, head as far as possible. The chair to the head, canapés for auxiliaries.

In a taxi: the head is placed in the rear behind the driver. If a passenger needs to go forward, there will most messenger boy of auxiliaries.
the train or elevator: the nominally headed by the window, unless the chief prefers the aisle!

And you, where you stand on entering a lift?
