Haha Wedding Invitation Wording

Naoshima, the island drunk art - Expats in Japan since 579 days

, and we in a few days visiting the Ohama Art Museum in Kurashiki. A Naoshima, by grace of the publishing company Fukutake, now named Benesse (welfare) Corporation that came out of nowhere two museums and an art project combining contemporary heritage preservation and creation in a sharp sociological and preserved natural setting. It starts with the most audacious: the Chichu Art Museum, a concrete architecture of Tadao Ando fully integrated into a hill (one thinks of the fabulous Hotel Michel Bras in Laguiole). In its maze of dark corridors and geometric skylights and houses in all and for all eight works focused precisely on the light. It sometimes borders on pignolage with employees dressed in clinical white that are expected to remove their shoes and then the poor visitors before they can enjoy four of the famous "Water Lilies" by Claude Monet, or even one of three installations of James Turrell is simply a vertical opening to ... Heaven! I, who usually lets me easily carried away by the rain contemporary art, I prefer to book ... the main museum of the "Benesse House. Here, the architectural design of the less radical Tadao Ando wonders with its natural lighting and views over the sea, the masterpieces are displayed more simply and emerge even though the strength of emotion: a "dripping" of Pollock, a "Venus Blue" dYves Klein, a giant anthill drilled in a collection of flags of the world Yukinori Yanagi, mystical stone circles, driftwood or dirt Richard Long ... On the beach, a huge pumpkin yellow streaked with black dots of Yayoi Kusama. Superb. And the original is still to come: in the nearby fishing village, our sponsors have pushed the artistic adventure to ask people to participate in their most beautiful idea, "Art House Project." Are five or six traditional houses renovated, which now house modern facilities: the charming Japanese who you punched the ticket is none other than former occupant, a little later, his neighbor was involved in a works Tatsuo Miyajima tinkering in the screwdrivers pace dotted figures bright dipped in a basin in the center of the old floor of the house Kadoya (our favorite), also a statue of Liberty alabaster seems to leave the roof of the house Haisha (Shinro by Ohtake) Such an Alice too quickly bolting.

In fact, it is this: we went from the other side of the mirror this time sunny day in Wonderland contemporary. The ferry's return gives us the reverse transition, emerging smoothly this daydream. Benesse house

Where Can You Buy Katydids Candy?

Miyajima, my love - Expats in Japan since 575 days

Restaurant d'Okonomiyaki our Top week spring holiday in Japan: the azaleas and wisteria are in bloom again, the weather is cool but binds to the beautiful, the "golden week" of the Japanese begins in a few days short, he must enjoy it! Destination the south coast of the main island of Honshu and the northern coast of Shikoku its small neighbor. Check
Hiroshima, where we agree, me from Taipei where I was for the job, Delphine and children since Tokyo Easter holidays have just begun.

museum devoted to the atomic bomb is quite challenging for younger, but it is a necessary and edifying of the same caliber as that of Nagasaki

or
manga "Barefoot Gen" . The dome of one building remained standing in the bomb deploys its skeleton scrap as a challenge to future generations: "never again"! For the rest, Hiroshima is a large Japanese city of over a million people without much interest, except to the delicious okonomiyaki Hiroshima brown sauce and sweet: Do not miss the building Økonomi-mura, which includes lots of small family establishments used exclusively for this hearty pancake on several floors. Then we walk to the ferry that connects the coast to the island of Miyajima. And there is enchantment! A little piece of paradise without cars or almost, just a few hotels and minshuku (inns) as the charming, where we stayed: the 'guesthouse Kikugawa. Everyone comes to admire the Itsukushima Shinto Shrine and its floating torii. We first discovered at low tide, when the basis of its six pillars orange sinks into the sand and the Japanese took the opportunity to pick up their shells with small rakes. We come back after dinner, when the day tourists are gone, and the tide is rising. The show is taking: a soft light illuminates the large torii shrine and curled at the bottom of the mountain, both bathed in wavelets and lined with lanterns. After a clever calculations, we find that the sanctuary will float on the water again tomorrow morning, including buildings the most entrenched in the bottom of the bay as the sober Noh theater and the big bridge which only went back rounded envoys the emperor. In short, any time of day or night, you never tire of it: got overcast, one grasps the big clouds against the dive under the torii and the next day in good weather, the last rays of the setting sun play hide and seek with the pillars.

Meanwhile, a trip up Mount Misen among monkeys and deer leave us some soreness in the calves after a good run of six hundred meters. But the bowls of udon (white noodles) served by grandpa smiling in the hut of the summit was worth the ride. We also really like the Daisho-in Buddhist temple, one of the few we've seen in Japan with prayer wheels, which declined on all modes of the seven gods of good fortune is unknown name qu'Ebisu, the god of fisherman and fish, but also fun to recognize the lady in the shamisen, the samurai and the old man lying in the skull.

How Do Biopsy Ovarian Cyst

The otakus the cleat - Expats in Japan since 565 days

The otaku to catch Six expat buddies decide to slum a Friday evening in Akihabara. Known for its high-tech stores, the neighborhood is also a mecca for lovers of marginal mangas, the temple of "otaku", these young adults in their passion reclusive and unable to fit into the mold so normative in Japanese society. These young people have inadequate need a bit of sweetness in this world of brutes. Extroverted enough to find a soul mate, they prefer to substitute, the substitute for a girlfriend inaccessible, so we invented them for the "maid cafe". A cocoon where waitresses dressed as their favorite manga characters host a humble "Welcome home, master." Nothing too biased in these places, just a little tenderness dummy to fill the evenings and empty dreams of otakus.

Our three couples expat tipsy dégotent a maid cafe in the name of dream: "Satanic Dining Little Beauty" (or Little BSD). And there, lack of luck! Despite the Japanese developed two of our friends, and no warm words of welcome, no coffee served with a spoon by the waitress. Ladies dressed in vaguely Office (office workers) instead of crackers promised, they give us a ticket through to consumption, which saves the Polaroid of one of them, great. The decor is arbitrary, the atmosphere is murky, some white-collar end of the week to lock beers short, we fissa bar.

lack of Re-bowl, the second of our list, "Maid In Angels", spotted on the Backpacker and
Internet
is closed! a neighborhood Indian restaurant later, we're ready to go and we finish with champagne at home, where a sign "Little PSX flashes before us (We will never know what it means PSX). We climb upstairs to finally discover a warm and cozy, with wooden floors and draperies, where some lovely maids playing darts snort and a laugh with the regulars. Those are all traits of otakus: teen face lingered behind thick glasses, mini laptop on the counter to stay connected or to play online, beatific smile when the waitress comes regularly to exchange a few words: they are background in the concept! Code name of our waitress, "Chocola" is innocent, sweet and good for morale. Our expat-otakus an evening out of the bottle finally field 'right here and play darts with "Chocola.

Delph Note: Unable to photograph waitresses in maid cafes. To get a Polaroid, it must win ... consuming!

Ferrari sushi - Expats in Japan since 561 days

Far stacks of plates at one hundred sixty yen kaiten sushi of the sushi bar turns any corner of Tokyo, here we are tonight in a secret location. Almost sacred. One of the famous sushi bar "Ginza for amateurs, one of those who received the ultimate accolade to receive three Michelin stars for Tokyo. We will explore one of these institutions pocket Ikea wood countertops and toilets on the landing, which triggered a controversy
La pile d'assiettes au Kaiten sushi last year by being thrown into the category of Michel Bras, Alain Joel Robuchon and other Ducasse. Master sushi officiated behind the counter: he cut the fish, rice kneaded, while the envelope of crisp sheets of seaweed. It inspires respect. Few beers and ume-shu (alcohol plum) later, Eric, Eva, Cyril, Elena, Delphine and I push the audacity to start the conversation! Finally, more precisely, we ânonnons few incoherent words, just to make fun, he and three other Japanese customers only sit at the counter with us. In fact, it tries to translate what Michelin has published the quote as master Mizutani: "
when you cut millions of fish in your life, you get to know without looking cut. My knife is an extension of my hand, I feel the fish at the end of my finger. The fish is fresh, is evident. What is less clear is whether the fish choose in such a bay, such as week of month. Because the fish migrate. It is different every day. I can not leave this job to my apprentices. It takes decades of experience to see, feel, caress the fish every day. "
Indeed, the master behind the two long knives instead of hands, the apprentice does not mufti. This installment also nuts St. Jacques, shrimp with their eggs inside, sea urchins delicate, but it does not cause customers. Strangely, no salmon among the twenty or sushi and sashimi which we delight tonight. However, tuna is the fish-king: different parts of the beast we are offered, flanks ( shutoro ?) sweet and tasty in the belly (o-toro
Mizutani-sensei) and fat melting. We here at the climax of the meal, the ultimate in quality three star hotel. Normal: the enormous creature of several hundred kilograms is purchased at the Tsukiji market for the price of a Ferrari ...! The wholesalers then will reserve the most delicate parts of the tuna sushi chefs to the finest of Ginza.
It is twenty-one hours, we thank the sensei we have the abdominal skin taut and our portfolios are relieved of some tickets.
